Chemistry beyond books
"Chemistry Beyond Books"
Ananya was a quiet girl in 11th standard—curious, kind, and a little shy. She loved science, especially chemistry. Her dream was to become a scientist, and to chase that dream, she decided to join a local chemistry coaching center in her town.
On her first day at the coaching, she felt nervous but excited. As she entered the classroom, she noticed two boys already seated—Harsh, who seemed full of energy, always cracking jokes, and Ayush, who was calm, focused, and had a gentle smile.
Over the weeks, Ananya tried to stay focused on her studies, but Ayush’s quiet confidence began to catch her attention. He would sometimes help her with tricky problems, always polite, never overstepping.
Harsh, on the other hand, was more expressive. He would tease Ananya in a friendly way, trying to make her laugh, sometimes a little too loud for the quiet girl’s liking. She appreciated his liveliness but found herself drawn to Ayush’s quiet presence more.
One evening, after class, it started to rain. Ananya had forgotten her umbrella. While she stood under the coaching center’s tin shed, wondering how to get home, Ayush quietly walked up, holding his umbrella out to her.
“Come on,” he said, “I’ll walk you home.”
Their walk was filled with soft laughter, the scent of rain, and something new blooming—something warm and undefined. After that day, they often walked together. They studied, shared dreams, and found that their chemistry wasn’t just about formulas—it was something real.
Years later, they still laughed about their first awkward interaction at coaching, and how rain brought them closer than any reaction in class ever could.
